You decide…I was referred to the practice by a respected individual in the Dental Practice business. As a new patient, my expectations were high. Entered the office on time and it was unclear if the practice had received my information, so confusion set the tone. I stated I was a new patient and was questioned why was I there. I then had an exchange with the patient caller and after three exchanges, I convinced him I was not Mr Berg. He disappeared behind the door… chaos is now the vibe . The patient caller summoned me to an X-ray device that malfunctioned. Other employees acknowledge this was a know problem. Never went back to that machine for the needed X-rays. The patient caller never introduces himself or addresses me by my billable name. I’m now escorted to a treatment room and by its condition it was rarely used and didn’t feel clean. I know this because someone brought in some equipment covered up by a paper towel and she said “you didn’t see me in here”. Finally Dr. Purcell comes in and addresses me as Sir and asks how I am. I told him not great an explained why. It was my expectation that there was a protocol for new patients, not so here. He acknowledge my concern and even reprimanded some other employees close by making our conversation more difficult. After rough start, I'm confident Dr. Purcell knows his stuff. I’m then moved to a much nicer area where I have my teeth cleaned by an incredible Dental Hygienist. I’m escorted to check out and it is apparent chaos at rule again. Finally I present my credit card, approved and done. I locate the public rest room and this is what I see. I mentioned to a staff member they may want to clean this up. This was my new patient experience.
My crown came off Monday evening after having it 8 years. I needed a dentist ASAP. Started calling at 8:00 am Tuesday morning to find a dentist to re-apply my crown. Out of six dentists around my area only Advanced Dental Care of Lakewood could see me. Everyone else couldn’t get me in until Wednesday. I’m so thankful they were able to fit me in. I’ve found my new dental team!
The staff is very professional and cordial. Elise did my regular cleaning and I found her to be exceptional. She provided helpful feedback and insights and her friendly demeanor made the appointment as pleasant as it was informative. The best hygienist I’ve ever worked with!
After 40 years of teeth cleanings, one with NO pain. Thanks Miguel. I'm sorry I can no longer deal with the incompetent billing department. I knew the office and admin side of the outfit was weak but I did not realize just how weak. Advanced Dental Care compromised ALL CUSTOMER DATA and waited months to tell us. There are plenty of good dentists that don't have a moron running their billing department.
Throughout all of this I was never rude, abusive or loud with any ADC rep. 1: Their periodontist measures my gums on the upper/lower left rear during a post-op visit. 2: A week later I have my 1st visit with their hygienist, who recommends (7) Arestin, time release antibiotic injections at $40 ea. I agree out of emotion rather than reason, finding out later that even the manufacturer's studies show little benefit. (4) of the Arestin are put in the area Dr. Hassan had examined. 3: A week later I call to talk with Dr. Hassan about what caused the need for this Arestin after he found no deep pockets. I was highly concerned. 4: 6 days later, no return call I again speak with the office manager about this. She says Dr. Hassan works only every other week at that location and she would put a note on his monitor and have him call me. I let her know how deeply my oral problems are concerning me. I had left my first message on a Thursday so Dr. Hassan had had 2 full days to respond before being absent the following week. 5: A week later I call again, asking to speak with Barbara, the office manager. I was hung up on. I called back and the woman who answered said "Barbara is not up front right now." So I leave a message. It's a small office, tell her she has a phone call. The woman for some reason volunteered that it was only her 2nd day there. Was it Barbara speaking? Maybe. No return call from Barbara but I get a VM from Dr. Hassan's assistant, telling me to come in to discuss it. I had ONE question and they wanted me to drive 1 hour round trip and no doubt pay a fee on top of the more than $2K I spent on the surgery. 6: No longer trusting Dr, Hassan I call back to cancel my next appt. with him. I get a quick call back saying they were "deactivating" me. They give a few bogus excuses as to why that were shot down by me instantly. Humana calls them and Barbara doesn't take the call. Instead, Dr. Hassan's assistant does and tells Humana that I was "harassing" them. I made 3 calls, each about a week apart and NEVER spoke with Dr. Hassan's assistant, Rachel. Yet another untruth. My guess? They didn't want to be questioned about the $280 of Arestin. Or they just have a god complex and feel they can treat patients any way they want to.
