Let's start by saying that 2 reviews we see here (Nina and CapoVam) are reviews from the owners, so it doesn't count and it should not be here. Owners should not review their businesses. This is a school owned by Brazilians and since I am also a Brazilian, I though would be great having my kids here. Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience and left this preschool extremely disappointed. It took me months until I decided to leave this review, but I think it's necessary - as parents we want our kids to be safe. I removed both of my kids (4 and 5) from Capokids Lakewood Ranch after my kids were exposed to information they were not supposed to at this age. The teacher and the director were present at that moment, and they did not ask any parents if it was ok bring this type of conversation to kids that young. As soon I learned this, I removed my kids from school and I heard from one of their teachers that they lost 5 kids in the same day. Positive points of school: Capoeira classes are fun. Negative points: absolutely lack of communication, really small place, long hours of unnecessary naps that my kids never liked, didn't have teachers with years of experience in other schools, and when the after school kids arrive it's overcrowded - there are no separate rooms from preschoolers and after care kids.
I highly recommend this school. Not only is Capoeria one of the best activities you could get our children involved in (since it is a really fun, no contact martial art involving music, singing, dance and fighting movement), but this is one of the best school environments as well. Partly it is due to the mixture of skill and activity with academics (in a real school setting) but more importantly due to the attention, care, and goals of the administration. And as a martial art Capoeira is idea for kids because it can be played in a friendly and fun way. All my kids have been involved in it for years, now going on third generation. You couldn't send our kids to a better place; the results are impressive. ----------- It is a real shame to see a rare individual try to ruin a stellar multi-decade reputation because of their own issues.
My son has been with Capo Kids after school care since school started last year. He is in first grade and he absolutely LOVES it! (I wish I would've known about it when he was in VPK and kindergarten! He would've been there this whole time!!) He has learned so many cool tricks and moves it's unbelievable! He is a Capo Kid all the way! We listen to capoeira music ALL THE TIME!! No matter where we are he is listening to it. While he's in the shower, brushing his teeth, sitting in his room, at a friend's house, in the car with me, wherever and whenever, he has his capoeira music playing and doing all the moves he learned. I think it's just adorable! He is even trying to teach other kids how to do the moves! They have different outings and events to perform and show off their moves to the public and I love attending every one of them! Watching the kids and the adults is just phenomenal! I am very proud of my son and all that he has accomplished there! Mastrae Rony and Contra-Mastrea Sherry are terrific instructors along with their amazing staff. My son and I loves everyone there and we feel loved back ;-) Very happy, excited and pleased with my decision of enrolling him there. He will continue to go as long as he can. He was even talking about being an instructor there lol my lil man.....
I've been doing the after-school program and camps since I was 5 years old. That's a whopping 19 years! Once I reached middle school I was able to be a counselor in training like many other children who have been in the program since they were young. I believe being and working with this program has shaped the strong, confident, woman I am today.
We had both out daughters go to CapoKids! We love the teachers and the environment has real family feel!
