Dropped in for a quick bite. I had the bowl of clam chowder, which was tasty, had a good portion of clams, large bites of potatoes, and was quite thick...could be a little thinner. Also had the spinach salad with vinaigrette which was a nice complement to the chowder. My wife had the Buffalo Chicken Tenders, which was nice and spicy, with a homemade ranch dressing for dipping. Our server Will was super 👌 Very friendly and helpful. Dropped in again, this time for dinner. And as luck would have it, Will was our server...again, so we had great 👍 service...again. I had the fish and chips (actually a salad instead). The fish batter had a nice crunch and wasn't tough. The fish was firm and flavorful. My wife had shrimp 🍤 and chips (again a salad), and the shrimps were misnamed cause they were HUGE! Tasty too.
Grove is the place where you can get dressed up a bit more than usual and enjoy some nice entrees that have a fancier flair, especially for dinner. I tried one of my husband's avocado tacos, which I thought were alright but nothing spectacular. The French onion soup was quite flavorful but just a teeny bit too salty for my taste. However, I really liked the zucchini pasta - the zoodles were just perfectly cooked, and the sauce had a nice, light touch of sweetness to it. It may be chilly inside, so bring an extra layer if you get cold easily.
I was excited to try this place because it reminded me of Water & Flour in Tampa in regards to their Happy Hour deals (it does not compare at all in terms of overall food quality and experience in the restaurant). First, it was absolutely freezing inside the restaurant. I get that it's hot outside and there is a patio to sit at but the A/C had to have been set to 65/66 degrees. Don't sit at the booths right by the hostess stand because the vents blow at full blast the entire time. The happy hour menu was fairly priced - but you definitely get what you pay for. The flavors were lacking, the drinks were just OK, and overall I think they need some serious improvements to the menu in order to keep people coming back. I started with the Ranch Water (not good) and eventually switched to the Main Street Margarita which was delicious. Our first round of appetizers was the Thai Cauliflower (really good) and the Fried Calamari (not worth it, skip on this one). Next, we ordered the Ahi Tuna Nachos (decent), Fish Tacos (ok), and a California Roll (skip out on the sushi). Overall, I'm not sure I'll be back - I think the potential is there for this restaurant but pretty disappointing, especially with being in an area like Lakewood Ranch. I'd be curious to come back and try the full dinner menu but I'm not sure if it'll be worth the drive.
Flat bread was bigger than I expected and very good. Stuffed chicken breast excellent with delicious sauce. We will go there again. Thursday night, early and it was packed. Happy hour until 7. Make a reservation online. Easy to do. Over all a nice relaxing evening.
Wonderful food and lovely large outside patio. Lots of room inside and out. We went for lunch and I had the Mahi Mahi special and my husband had the Grouper special. They were both excellent - cooked to perfection. Staff are friendly and they have lots of parking due to being downtown Lakewood Ranch.
