You walk in and the restaurant smells really good. This is a fairly large restaurant with a big bar and good happy hour specials. We were very happy with our food and the service was excellent. Great portions.
Food was great! Bartender not so much. He wore a backwards baseball cap like he is in a sports bar - and had an attitude. Think his name is Christian?? We put in an order for drinks *during happy hour*, but he rang in order a few minutes after so were charged full price. We are regulars and this guy is new. He was sarcastic, but not in a funny way. Not a fan. He was slow to bring utensils, dishes, etc, while food got cold. No apology. Place was empty too...except for all the flies 🤢 If and when we return we will sit at table so we can have a waiter or not go on Friday or Saturday nights when Christian is bartender. Martin however is a great bartender!
The pleasant weather left the dining room nearly vacant, and the service was extremely friendly. We had a meatball appetizer, and the meatballs were tender and covered in a well seasoned tomato sauce. My main course was Penne Siciliana, and it was covered in the same tomato sauce and a variety of fresh vegetables with some delicious goat cheese. My wife had some salmon which was served on spaghetti and crusted with capers. Everything was delicious, and considering main Street in Lakewood ranch tends to be rather pricey, food was not unreasonably priced whatsoever, and was in fact less expensive than several other nearby restaurants.
We stopped here for happy hour appetizers and the have a great deal for that. The service was fast and food was great. We will be back for happy hour.
This restaurant should provide fly swatters. My wife, daughter, and I came here for dinner at around 5pm on a Monday night in July. We opted to eat inside to avoid the heat (91 degrees) and flies, but since the front door was propped open the whole time, it was a little warm, and we spent the entire meal swatting flies. Our waitress, Maria G, didn't seem very enthused to be serving us from the start, and I find it always takes something away from a meal when you feel you are inconveniencing the staff by patronizing their establishment. There was one other couple in the whole place, but it took around 45 minutes or longer from the time we ordered our main meal for them to make our pizza and flatbread. The food was fine, nothing amazing, and probably more difficult to enjoy due to the rest of the experience. When we were ordering, we made it clear that we wanted to order drinks for happy hour. My wife asked about one wine, and she told us that one wasn't on the $5 wine menu. So she ordered a different wine, then later had a second. Instead of the $10 we were expecting, the charge was $24, or $12 per glass. When we brought this to Maria's attention, she implied that it was our fault because we didn't understand, and didn't take anything off our check. Needless to say, this was both our first and last experience at Trattoria.
