We went to the UTC maple street location today for a quick bite to eat. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with egg and wanted the share it with my 1 year old daughter. I noticed after taking a bite it was a little too spicy for her and a nice man came over to ask if everything was ok. I told him the issue. He offered to give her some strawberries and he was so nice! You have good people working here! Thank you for being so kind to my family!
Delicious little lunch spot in the UTC area. They've got all kinds of creative dishes with the biscuit being the base for most exploration. You definitely need to check your utensils for cleanliness before you use them. Tips are not expected here, and they let you know via a sign up front. Definitely a good, casual spot to take a break and grab a meal.
Based on others reviews I thought I'd love this place. At best it was underwhelming; to be fair maybe the amount of customers was just a bit too much, but either way we did not enjoy our experience. 1st, the ordering/serving system is just plain weird. You order (giving some whimsical identifier along with your name) at the front counter, and go find a seat. Once your food is ready they call you by name + whimsical identifier to pick up your order. The pickup area is about a 3'x3' counter where every person meets, at times simultaneously to pick up their order. Likely due to the size of the counter the food isn't served on trays, just individual plates, bowls, cups and saucers. This led to some of our orders being taken away by other guests, while we ended up with something that didn't belong to us. I witnessed at least 2 others with similar issues. 2nd, all but one of our items arrived even remotely hot. How exactly this happened is beyond me, as you can clearly see the cooks from the main counter/ordering area. Anyhow that was a bummer. Mimosa was rushed and the taste was a mess, but again they were packed and the lady making drinks was doing her best to make drinks, take orders and communicate with the kitchen. Like I said it could just be that I arrived at a bad day/time (they were super busy). For me, and the fact that our two adults and three kids cost upwards of the 3 digit mark without really enjoying our food. I will have to pass on trying it again.
I have only been this one time so far, but I can already tell that this is my new favorite breakfast place and it's not even close. All the food that my sister and I had when we were there was absolutely impeccable. I don't think I can even go to another place for breakfast that's not this place ever again. Definitely put this at the tippy top of your list for places to go and eat food because it will absolutely be worth your time. I had the chicken club as my main food and the three layers cake as like a side I shared with my sister. The three layers cake also isn't a cake in the way you are probably thinking. It's basically hashbrown, egg, sausage gravy, and some chives on the top and it is absolutely delicious.
I truly enjoyed the food...Chicken Biscuit with Goat cheese. I also enjoyed talking to Troy(Manager). I will definitely be back when I am in town.
